A digital exhibition of the Brayford Honeybees

A digital exhibition: the bees by Alex Foxley-Johnson

A collection of images taken over the course of 2019 – 2020 by Alex Foxley-Johnson. These images document some of the behaviour of our brayford honeybees, unusual structures of comb, close-ups of larvae and comb illuminated by light.

Alex Foxley-Johnson is a Communications Officer at the University of Lincoln, focussing on promoting the work of the Estates and Sustainability teams. She is rarely seen without her camera, and adores wildlife.

On the photos shown in this collection, she comments: “Honeybees have always fascinated me, but I have become more passionate about showing how beautiful they are since taking my role up at the University of Lincoln. The Observation Hive is a magical structure, providing the opportunity to observe these wonderful insects closely in a way that I’d previously been unable to. I hope that these photos illustrate some of their magic.”
